Want to go to #WLWVBM2015? Here is exactly how:

1. Get a contract @ all lunches.
2. Read carefully and get the contract signed for you and your parents.
3. Go back to the tables @ all lunches and turn in your contract, you'll get a packet with all the fundraising and permission slip information you'll need.
4. Fundraise/come up with @ least a $100 donation. The highest donors will get prizes and the more you raise past the lower limit, the more raffles tickets you can earn to be entered into a drawing to win even more prizes.

Packets are due by March 25, 2015 and the first 20 people from each lunch to turn in their packet get a free MCBB T-shirt! 5. Once everything is filled out in the packet, go to the tables at lunch and turn it in and... You're going to VBM on March 27-28 from 6:30pm to 7am!

State of the City Address

Waiting for the State of the City Address
Student Activities members Cooper Dayton, Ryan Tate, and Sydney SanJuan were in the audience for the Mayor of Detroit Mike Duggan's 2015 State of the City Address. As guests of Motor City Blight Busters founder John George, the students watched the speech in the Redford Theater and then attended a special event after the speech hosted by the Blight Busters. While there Dayton, SanJuan, and Tate were able to talk to many people about Walled Lake Western's 35th annual Volleyball Marathon.

Student Activities Visits MCBB

Student Activities w/ John George and MCBB crew

Click here for more pictures of this visit to Motor City Blight Busters
Members from Student Activities class visited Motor City Blight Busters Saturday, January 31st to gain a better understanding of what the VBM35 charity is all about.  While on the visit, students met with MCBB founder John George at the Motor City Java house at 9am (as is customary for Saturday volunteers) and learned more about the history of the charity.  Next, the class was taken on a tour by George to see all the positive influence the Motor City Blight Busters have had on the Old Redford neighborhood of Detroit.  After the tour, the students got to work helping a newly refinished project get ready for an event that evening.

To cap the day off, Student Activities ate lunch at "Sweet Potato Sensations", a local restaurant that is still in the neighborhood due to Motor City Blight Busters work.  Overall, it was a great learning exerience for the class.  We look forward to future support through VBM35 and future visits.
